Structured Light Series
Encaustic and mixed media paintings.
This series explores abstraction through structured compositions that come alive through light, where layered materials and reflective elements create surfaces that transform with movement and viewing conditions. Each painting begins as encaustic wax is dripped directly onto the panel, forming a textured, atmospheric ground. The surface is then incised to introduce structure, followed by the application of reflective gold pigments. Color is applied intuitively in response to the evolving surface, allowing the composition to emerge through a balance of control and freedom. Light is produced through material conditions not depiction. Variations in depth, translucency, and reflection create surfaces that shift dramatically with changes in light and viewing position. The process and material language of the work have been developed through an ongoing studio practice and are specific to this body of work
